Bonsucro
To ensure sustainable practices.
“Bonsucro – An International Standard for Advancing Sustainability in Sugarcane Cultivation and Sugar Production | The Backbone of Sustainable Cane Business.” Cristalla adopts the sustainable sugarcane and sugar standard of Bonsucro as the primary framework for developing the sugarcane industry sustainably. This aims to enhance competitiveness in the global market while preparing for future environmental and carbon regulations. BONSUCRO Bonsucro is an international standard for sustainable sugarcane and sugar production. It was established through collaboration among academics, sugarcane farmers, and the private sector. It is a non-profit organization working collectively to set standards for sugarcane and sugar production that ensure sustainability across economic, social, and environmental dimensions. There is a single unified production standard known as the Bonsucro Standard, which covers the following key principles:
Bonsucro supports Cristalla in…
Regenerative Cane FarmingFrom Cost Control to Asset Creation
To strengthen and upgrade the sugarcane cultivation system for long-term stability, while addressing climate variability, raw material cost volatility, and Net Zero goals.
Cristalla applies Regenerative Agriculture to sugarcane farms
No burning of sugarcane, and management of crop residues to return carbon to the soil
Use of organic fertilizer from filter cake and internal bio-based materials
Improvement of soil and water management systems to increase Soil Organic Carbon and water-holding capacity
Reduction of high–carbon-emission production inputs
Knowledge transfer and incentive programs for network farmers
Regenerative Cane Farming helps farmers to:
Reduce production cost per rai through soils with better water and nutrient retention
Increase yield stability, even during droughts or irregular rainfall
Reduce reliance on chemical fertilizers and lower long-term input costs
Lower carbon intensity of sugarcane from upstream production
Healthy soil = Stable yields = Lower risk
Through the projects that the company has continuously implemented and developed, we have strengthened the organization’s sustainability
from our relationship with local communities to environmental, social, and other key aspects
in alignment
with internationally recognized sustainability principles and in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
